How To Create An Aesthetic
To me, the aesthetic of an Instagram account is everything. I mean who wants to look at an ugly Instagram page? Definitely not me. An aesthetic goes way beyond making sure that each picture is not ugly on its own. An aesthetic means that every picture works well together. It means that when a viewer looks at your page, they see consistency and a flow that is unique to your page. In order to create an aesthetic, I make sure to edit all of my pictures similarly. Specifically, I am a HUGE advocate for the brightness editing tool on Instagram. To me, every photo looks better when the brightness is enhanced even just a bit. Therefore, prior to posting any of my pictures, I enhance the brightness just a little on each picture so that when scrolling through my page, my followers see a consistently bright and vibrant flow of food pictures. Ultimately, I want my page to be recognizable to my followers and beyond. My goal is for someone to be looking over the shoulder of their friend who is scrolling through a food Instagram account and be able to immediately say “OMG, is that The Rite Bite?” I believe that by achieving a consistent and vibrant aesthetic, I can achieve this very goal of mine.
